A spider that lives in a flower

Crab Spider in a peony flower

Crab Spider in a peony flower

Evey year when this tree peony flowers, one or two crab spiders take up residence. This one has been getting fatter as you can see,  its little larder is in the flower.  The peony is flowering a couple of weeks earlier than normal I wondered if this would affect the spiders timing wise – it doesn’t appear to be! It was sitting on a pink flower a few days ago and stood out somewhat. Opinion says they can change colour but only a little bit – probably not from white to pink!
