August birthday lilies

Big bold Lilium speciosum Alba 3 bulbs kept in a pot and badly treated for 3 years,  shade, no new compost,  a little summer feed,  in flower and gloriously so every August (prefers more acidic soils). Tonight cut flowers in a vase,  nectar leaking from the stigma and dripping on the table, downstairs heavily scented.

Today weather sunshine and breezy, yesterday solid downpours and skiddy roads.

The Cyclamen hederifolium appeared a few weeks ago a reminder that autumn is just around the corner.

Cold Harbour Pyramidal Orchid massacre update,  letters (not from me),  to Newbury Weekly News denouncing the mowing – desist landowner, desist.
